The twinning with the Bad kissingen Kantorei

 

The kantorei was founded in 1948 by professor Walter. For many years, it was conducted by the brilliant organist Werner Bukowski.

The programme of the Kantorei is mainly religious and ranges from classical composers to contemporary musiciens, from Palestrina and Schütz to Stravinsky and Distler. It also includes orchestral works such as : Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Brückner, Charpentier, Gounod, Vivaldi, etc….

The Kantorei is attached to the catholic church of Bad Kissingen and performs during offices. The Kantorei has been directed by Burkhard ASCHERL since 1993. It gives religious concerts twice a year, in summer and autumn, during the SPA season of Bad Kissingen, drawiing large audiences.

 

Exchanges

Since the beginning of the twinning Vernon-Bad Kissingen, there have been 22 exchanges.

In May 2002, Chorus Semper Viret and the Kantorei gave a concert in Bad Kissingen and performed Psalm 42 by Mendelssohn and the St Cécile Mass by Gounod.

In 2003, they presented paslm 42 again in Vernon as well as the Mass in D major by Dvorak. In October 2005, back to Bad Kissingen for the Magnificat by Vivaldi and the Mass in B by Schubert.


 

Burkhard Ascherl

Burkhard ASCHERL was born in 1961. He studied religious music at the University of Würzburg where he was awarded the first prize from the Music Academy. In 1989, he got his Meisterklassen diplom with professor G. Kauzinger.

After holding the post of Cantor in Lohr, he left in 1988 to take up the post of First Organist and conductor in the St Matthias Church in Berlin-Schoneberg. He is also Master Lecturer at the school of Music and University of Art.

Since 1993, he has been Cantor of the town of Bad Kissingen and artistic director of the Bad Kissingen 'Orgelzyklus'


His activities also include national and international concerts, competitions and recordings.
